File Extensions

In simple words - a file extension is a sequence of several characters that identifies the type of data that is contained in the file.

Based on the file extension, which is the string at the end of each file name, the operating system identifies the file and assigns it to work with the appropriate software. For this reason, all document files with the .DOC file extension are opened using Microsoft Word (or another word processor), and 3D projects with the .DWG extension in the design program called AutoCad.

This situation occurs when we have the appropriate software installed to handle the file with the given file extension. If there is no suitable program in our system, the file cannot be opened. In this situation, you have to find and install the appropriate program.
